Discover Triphala!
Apr 07, 2025
When it comes to digestive health, I have a few favorite supplements that have worked wonders with my patients for many years.
One of them, called TRIPHALA, helps detoxify the gut and improves intestinal health over a short period of time. It is especially indicated to regulate bowel movements.
TRIPHALA is an Ayurvedic herb mixture made of 3 dried fruit extracts called Haritaki (Terminalia Chebula), Bibhitaki (Terminalia Bellirica), and the more familiar Amla (Phyllanthus Emblica).
HIGHBE TRIPHALA which is formulated to relieve constipation, also comes with Magnesium Hydroxide.
Unlike laxatives and stool softeners, which irritate the intestine and can only be used in the short term, Triphala builds gut health while helping with bowel movements. This is a soft, natural answer to all those who suffer constipation.
I also want to warn you about Probiotics.
Many patients are coming in with questions about probiotics since the supplement market is offering a wide range of options, and this can lead to over-consumption.
I often have to take patients off probiotics because they have been on them for months, sometimes years, and are now suffering the effects of gut bacteria imbalance.
In the gut resides a colony of bacteria that needs to be well-balanced. Too much of the “good bacteria” can pose a problem beyond digestive issues, leading to food intolerances, skin and auto-immune reactions, or brain fog.
In addition, there are many kinds of gut bacteria, and we are still exploring which ones are the most beneficial for our health.
Recently, we discovered that Akkermansia is a bacteria that best supports the integrity of the gut barrier. It is called GLP1 Pro because it helps balance blood sugar and cut cravings.
TRIPHALA has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for hundreds of years as a natural way to promote gut health. There are now studies showing how it helps with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).
Intestinal Health is of utmost importance as we realize the implications of gut imbalances on general health. I always address this during the initial consultation and incidentally realize how many patients are dealing with bloating, upset stomach, and irregular bowel movements.
So these are two safe supplements you can try if you have bloating or constipation that you can find on Highbe.org.
